SEO consulting and strategy
Roadmaps, prioritisation and senior direction for teams that need to know what to do next — and what to stop doing.
Fit
Who this is for
A fit
- Founders, marketing leads and in-house SEO who can make decisions but need a sequence they can defend.
- Teams that already ship, and need someone to set the order of work rather than another pair of hands on tasks.
- Organisations that want a 6–12 month search plan tied to how the business actually makes money, not to a volume column.
Not a fit
- A monthly “we do SEO” retainer where nobody decides and a junior reports rankings.
- Link packages, expired domains, or anything that has to be hidden from Google.
- A diagnostic you have not had yet. If you do not know what is wrong, buy an audit first — consulting on a guess is expensive.
Problems
What I diagnose
A backlog with no order. Content, technical debt and “we should do landing pages” sit in the same list. Without impact, effort and confidence, the team does whatever is nearest.
Keywords that do not buy. The map follows search volume instead of the buying decision. Traffic can rise while the commercial URLs stay invisible.
No definition of done. Reporting is sessions and positions. Nobody agreed what would count as progress for this business in this market, so every month is a narrative.
Strategy that cannot be staffed. A plan that needs a content team, a developer bench and a PR function you do not have is not a strategy. It is a wishlist.
Delivered
What you actually get
Decision memo
What we are trying to win, what we are not, and the constraints (capacity, stack, markets) that the plan has to live inside. Written so a stakeholder who was not in the call can still follow it.
Roadmap
A sequenced 6–12 month view: technical, content and measurement, in an order that matches dependencies. It is a sequence, not a catalogue of everything that could be done.
Priority queue
The next slice of work with owners and a definition of done. Consulting exists so this queue stays honest as the market moves.
Measurement plan
The few numbers we will actually look at, including leading indicators (indexation, coverage of commercial URLs) and the lagging ones that pay the bills. No vanity layer.
Cadence notes
For retainers: what I review, what you ship between calls, and what happens when a priority changes. Capacity is finite and the notes say so.
The roadmap is a sequence, not a catalogue of everything that could be done.
Method
How the work runs
Business and search context
How you make money, which queries are actually worth winning, and what the site can physically support. I will not write a plan for a market you cannot serve.
Constraint map
Stack, capacity, dependencies, and what is already in flight. Strategy that ignores the queue you already have is fiction.
Choices
Name the trade-offs: which templates, which intents, which markets wait. This is the actual consulting.
Roadmap and measurement
Sequence the work and agree how we will know a slice worked — including the things that did not move.
Cadence
On a retainer, re-prioritise against what shipped and what the SERP did. On a project, the roadmap is the handoff, with a review point if you want one.
Proof
Examples in progress
There is no published consulting case on this site yet. A useful example would show the decision memo, the sequence we chose, what was deprioritised, and what we measured — with permission, and with the misses intact.
Until then, the way to judge this work is a conversation: I will tell you whether you need a roadmap, an audit, or a technical project, and I will not flatten those into one offer.
Questions
Common questions
How is consulting different from an audit?
An audit diagnoses a site at a point in time and stops at a backlog with acceptance criteria. Consulting decides what to do with that picture over months: trade-offs, sequence, measurement, and what to refuse. If the picture does not exist yet, start with the audit.
Do you write the content?
I will specify which pages have to exist, which intent they own, and how they should link. I do not run a copy farm. If the bottleneck is production, we plan for that as a constraint rather than pretending a roadmap creates articles.
Retainer or project?
A roadmap can be a scoped project. A retainer is for teams that will keep shipping and need the queue re-ordered. I will not sell a retainer where there is nobody to implement and no budget for me to implement.
What do you need before we start?
A clear owner on your side, Search Console (and analytics if you have it), and honesty about capacity. If those are missing, we are not ready for a strategy engagement.
Bring the decision you cannot make yet
Send the site and the choice you are stuck on — markets, sequence, resourcing, or whether search is even the lever. I will tell you what a consulting engagement would have to look like.
